AAC Humanitarian Fund

The AAC’s Humanitarian Fund (HF) was created in September, 2005, at the height of the Hurricane Katrina Disaster in the Southern States. The HF was established as a means for assisting AAC members in providing organized community services to under-served populations on a local, national and global level.

The HF fund may be used for ongoing projects, such as providing acupuncture services in a homeless shelter, as well as disaster relief, such as acupuncture services in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Funds are used to help defray the cost of acupuncture supplies and travel expenses. Funds are not used to financially compensate the acupuncture provider.

The Humanitarian Funds first awarded recipient was AAC member Karen Marks, L.Ac., who treated Hurricane Katrina survivors in Louisiana in November, 2005. Click here to read an account of her remarkable experience.
