Join the AAC and Expert Insurance Panelists to Discuss Insurance Opportunities and Challenges in 2023.

Discussion Topics and Questions:

  • How Acupuncture listed as an Essential Health Benefit (EHB) will, or won't, change the way acupuncturists bill insurance
  • Tips for Billing and Successfully Being Paid for Acupuncture- How to field phone calls referring to acupuncture as an EHB in potential (and current) patients' insurance questions

  • Medicare, Medicare Advantage, and why acupuncturists should care about Medicare. The difference between Medicare, Medicare Advantage, and Medicaid. 
  • Practice building tips for implementing, referring and/or turning these patients into cash patients

We are excited to host these specialists to help answer and discuss our insurance questions and tips:

  • Samuel Collins is an internationally recognized expert on coding for acupuncture. He is currently a member of the World Health Organization ICD11 Traditional Medicine Reference Group and Functional Disability Reference Group. Sam is also a part of the Optum Health Coding and Reimbursement Committee. He is referred to as “the billing expert” for acupuncture and authors articles on coding and billing for Acupuncture Today. As the in-house expert at the American Acupuncture Council Insurance Information Network, he creates and teaches over 60 continuing education seminars relating to acupuncture, physical medicine, and chiropractic. Sam is also the contact for multiple state boards and the VA for his expertise on coding and billing for acupuncture. 

  • Chanda Hinton, Founder of the Chanda Center and the Chanda Plan Foundation. The Chanda center delivers services and positive health outcomes through an integrative healthcare model including acupuncture, massage, chiropractic care, adaptive yoga, physical therapy, counseling, behavioral health and care coordination. Through our partnerships we also provide our participants with access to primary care and dental care services.   • Kacey Wardle, L.Ac., Health First Colorado Medicaid, Home and Community Based Service Benefit Specialist. Former Acupuncturist and Past President of the Acupuncture Association of Colorado, Kacey now helps enroll acupuncture, chiropractic, and massage therapy providers into the Colorado Health First Program.
