The imagery contained in the acupuncture point names will be discussed as it relates to the point’s deeper functions. Acupuncture points will be discussed as archetypes that embrace the full realm of human expression. The meridians as maps of the body, soul, and spirit will be presented as they pertain to the integral functioning of the evolving human being. The diaphragm as the demarcation between consciousness and unconscious will be considered as well as the importance of opening it early in treatment in order to create a stable foundation for health. Points and herbs that open the diaphragm will be presented along with this. Points on every channel will be considered as icons of Chinese philosophical, cosmological, and medical concepts. Discussion of the function of several point categories including source, Xi-cleft, Luo, Reunion, and Window Points will be included.
We will review the use of the 60, Five-element points in terms of constructing elegant treatments, as well as analyze many acupuncture point combinations.
Material will be drawn from, "The Clinical Practice of Chinese Medicine" by Lonny Jarrett.
